GetLinux Team Adopts Odoo Community Edition as Core Business Platform

Laptop representing business software and productivity

We have some internal news to share: the GetLinux team has officially moved to Odoo Community Edition as our primary business management platform. CRM, project tracking, invoicing, and internal operations — all consolidated into one open source system.

Why Odoo?

We evaluated several options before committing. The criteria were simple: open source, self-hosted, modular, and capable of handling the full business workflow without stitching together half a dozen separate tools.

Odoo Community ticked every box. It runs on Linux, it stores data on our own infrastructure, and it covers everything from lead management to invoicing in one coherent interface. No SaaS subscriptions, no data leaving our servers, no vendor holding our business data hostage.

What We Are Running

  • CRM — tracking leads, client interactions, and sales pipeline
  • Project — task management and time tracking per client engagement
  • Invoicing — quotes, invoices, and payment tracking
  • Contacts — unified address book across the whole team
  • Discuss — internal messaging tied directly to tasks and records

Eating Our Own Dog Food

We advise clients to consider open source alternatives to proprietary tools. Running Odoo ourselves means we do this from direct experience, not theory. We know the setup process, the rough edges, and the genuine strengths — because we went through it ourselves.

If you are considering Odoo for your own business and want a practical conversation about what the Community edition can and cannot do, reach out. We are happy to share what we learned.
